Nintendo has released a WiFi USB dongle for the Nintendo DS. It appears that it will be shortly available in Japan and arriving state side not too long after.
It works by connecting the Nintendo DS to your computer (DS has built in WiFi), which then connects you to the Internet. Users will also be able to access WiFi at 1000 stores and 3000 locations in Japan.
To make matters even simpler, users aren’t required to enter user name and password. After your first connection an ID and password is saved serve side which automatically logs you in for future use. WiFi play start November 23rd with the release of Animal Crossing and quickly followed by the beloved Nintendo 64 game Mario Kart DS on December 29th.
Nintendo America has said that US WiFi connection would launch by the end of 2005.
No word on price.
