Viewers of NBC’s “My Name is Earl” will receive a special easter egg joke if they watch the show in high definition tonight. Taking advantage of the widescreen format of high definition, the makers are putting in a joke that only HD viewers will be able to see.
During the episode, Earl’s brother Randy will be holding up a sign that says “High Def Rocks!” off to the side. Standard definition viewers who only see the 4:3 will see nothing. Those of us watching My Name is Earl in glorious 16:9? We’re treated to a cute easter egg. Cheesy? Yes. Eggcelent? Very.
