iRiver U10 Released In US

iRiver released the US version of its U10 portable music player today.

At first the player looks large in size, but is in fact 2.7″ by 1.8″ and sports a 2.2″ screen. It supports DRM (Windows Media Digital Rights Management) and PlayForSure-verified media, the technology featured on Napster, Rhapsody and Yahoo! Music Unlimited.

iRiver’s U10 most interesting feature is its Flash interface. That’s right, the same Macromedia Flash you see online. Not only will the Flash interface provide a richer interface experience, but will enable game functionality on the iRiver U10. The player also supports movie playback but at 1GB you would be hard pressed to get anything of significant quality and length on there.

The U10 comes in two sizes: 512MB and 1GB and costs $199 and $249, respectively. It also supports FM radio and voice recording. Expect about a 25 hour playback time.

It is also supported by a ‘cradle’ that has integrated stereo speakers, supports a line out, charges the U10, comes with a remote controller for you couch potatoes, and syncs via USB 2.0.
