Does the iPod Video make sense for Apple’s line up?

As mentioned some weeks ago there are rumors of an iPod Video perhaps emerging based on hidden buttons in iTunes and that Apple has supposedly “bought an advanced audio-video chip from a British company.? In either case, Apple is preparing for yet another announcement on October 12 (that’s just 7 days away!) and their press office is ultra tight lipped. Although we haven’t seen the invitation apparently it reads: “One more thing…?

And so the count down begins.

The only viable ‘video’ stuff I could see Apple tacking on is an additional fee for downloading the video associated with the song. No one in their right mind would dream of watching TV shows on their iPod…or would they? I believe that my ‘nay saying’ is largely due to other video like devices setting a precedence with no, or little success. This maybe due to the fact that those companies lacked integration. Apple, afterall, does have the iTunes Store which is part of the reason why the iPod has been so wildly successful. Hell, Apple may just turn out to be the one of the largest distributors of downloadable media.
