Intel’s Blu-Ray support contingent on managed disc copy

intel logo 736934 Intels Blu Ray support contingent on managed disc copyIntel, who recently announced support for HD-DVD, said they would also support Blu-Ray if Sony and its other backers would commit to a managed disc copy solution.

Currently HD-DVD is the only standard of the two with formal plans to support a managed disc copy which will allow consumers to copy the contents of their discs to their home servers. Of course this concept allows buddies Microsoft and Intel to further push their Windows Media Center settop boxes.

Until an official commitment to some form of managed disc copy is made by the Blu-Ray crew, Intel is remaining on on side — HD DVD.
