Going to the World Series this Saturday?
Then you’re in luck, because XM Radio has plans to give away its $79.99 valued Delphi XM RoadyXT radio to every attendee – that’s 40,000 people. To receive the radio you simply need to redeem the provided coupon. The catch, though, is that you have to prepay for 3 months XM Radio service ($12.95/month). New XM radio owners typically receive a one month subscription, but World Series fans will not – not a bad pay off if you plan on getting the service anyway.
XM currently boasts over 5 million customers and says that number was half that a year ago. According to an XM survey, 23% of new subscribers said they chose XM Radio because of Baseball coverage. Makes sense seeing how there are over 180 regular season games, and a wealthy handful of teams that all have coverage designated by geographical location (you don’t get Boston Red Sox games here in Cali). XM will also continue to quickly ramp up subscribership as more of their products come preinstalled in cars.
The Delphi XM RoadyXT Radio is designed to be used in the car, and should come with all the necessary components for install, and features a 7 different color back lit display. A docking station (Roady XT Home Kit) is also available for home use.
XM’s only competitor is Sirius which currently carries 1.8 million subscribers, but hopes that number will significantly increase when ‘shock jock’ Howard Stern arrives on its air waves.
