AMD to sell computers cheap as cell phones in India
AMD is partnering with HCL, an Indian technology firm, to sell personal computers at the same cost as cell phones. The computer would cost less than 10,000 rupees, or $220 USD. The hopes would be to market these computer to the nation of one billion where only 15 million have computers. That’s quite an untapped market.
The computers would ship with a 1.6 ghz processor, 15 inch monitor, and 40 gigs of hard drive space. The machines will be running a version of Linux.
Not a bad machine for $220.
