Sprint introduced its Sprint PCS Vision Smart Device PPC-6700 today. This is the first convergence US phone to run Windows Mobile 5.0 directly from the carrier. The phone operates on Sprints Nationwide Sprint PCS Network and is compatible with the high speed CDMA 1X EV-DO and Wifi – which essentially means it will have access to high speed internet. EV-DO is spec’d to provide 2MBPS, but real download numbers are reported to be the 500-700kbps.
The device features a full QWERTY keyboard that when unveiled configures the screen to landscape mode. The phone also features a 1.3 megapixel camera and can be synced with a Micosoft Exchange server to make and receive updates from Outlook.
The device is currently available via Sprint’s business sales channel and will be available in store and online nationwide later this year. The phone runs for $629.99.
