The reviews are crashing through the doors and of course the critics are raving. My first surprise was that Apple’s speculated 14 hour continuous playback time is true, and even slightly better. Some maybe be disappointed by the Nano’s placement of the headphone jack – on bottom of the device – but I am confident the device’s small size and functionality will overshadow this drawback.

To put the size of the iPod Nano in perspective (yes I know everyone has seen the hand holding it) imagine 5-6 credit cards stacked.

Functionality seems to be flawless, and sound quality is nothing short of the Nano’s bigger brother. Even dropping the device from 3 feet didn’t stop the slender beast from performing (not something I’d recommend, but good to know).

Transferring music via Mac or PC is no problem, but be forewarned there is no Firewire option. So if you have an older Mac you may find that USB 1.0 could cause you to bite your finger nails as you watch your 2GB or 4GB iPod Nano slowly and tediously fill up.

My only closing remarks are: good luck getting one of these bad boys. Remember how difficult it was at first to get a Shuffle? Well take that and times it by 10. In fact I think I saw a few mom’s on 3rd St here in Santa Monica, California lining up in front of the Apple store…for Christmas ;).
