Seem like one of those offers that’s too good to be true? Well your wrong. Sure there is some fine print, but the offer is real.

Just simply book a trip for $500, or more on United, Ted, or United Express, sign up for a qualifying plan, and receive a FREE Treo 650. The offer expires December 31, 2005 and you must fly your booked ticket by January 6th, 2006. In order to be eligible for the free offer you must sign up for United’s frequent flyer program – big deal.

In case your thinking “the qualifying plan is probably horrendously expensive,” well guess again. You can sign up for either the $39.99, $59.99, or $99.99 plan. The only catch is that you have to also sign up for their data plan, which mind you is unlimited, for $44.99. In either case, I can’t remember the last time this phone was given away for free. This phone is probably not suited for the average joe, but either is the offer. It is safe to assume they are trying to attract the business trip folk – where I assume the bread and butter is for the airline and cell phone industry.
