A Multi-Button Apple Mouse!

Has hell frozen over? The seventh sign of the apocalypse? No, just a multi-button mouse from Apple.

According to Apple, “you get the programability of a four-button mouse in a single-button design.” According to the rest of us, we finally get a multi-button mouse from Apple.

Now that Mac zealots finally have a Apple-branded multi-button mouse, what will Windows people hold over Apple fans? Oh wait, the fact they have software. Touche.

I checked out the Mighty Mouse at the Apple Store last week and I was not totally impressed. One thing I didn’t expect is that the little nipple-type scroll ball is an actual spinning ball. I thought it would be a stationary sensor like you find in the middle of some laptop keyboards. The other thing is that the “side buttons” are really only one button. You sort of sqeeze the sides of the mouse to click the 3rd, customizable button. It actually felt sort of cool but I think I’d rather have one more button to program.

I say check out Logitech’s line of Bluetooth mice – they are pretty cool and run in the same price range and plus they have more buttons.

once upon a time, I came accross a computer mouse for the PC that had a numeric kepad and a zillion programmable buttons all over it and I think the case was clearplastic red. this mouse was sold around 1994.

I have yet to see any computer mouse beat that.
